The Modern is a two Michelin-starred, contemporary American restaurant at the Museum of Modern Art, featuring three separate experiences:


The Kitchen Table at The Modern offers a front-row seat in the heart of the restaurant’s kitchen for up to four guests, with an enhanced tasting menu by Executive Chef Tom Allan.

The Modern features Chef Thomas Allan’s refined, contemporary cooking in a beautiful setting overlooking MoMA’s Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden. The ever-evolving, seasonal menu is complemented by an award-winning wine program.

The Modern holds two Michelin stars, a Three Star review in the New York Times, four James Beard Awards, and the Grand Award from Wine Spectator. The Modern welcomes reservations.

The lively Bar Room offers Chef Thomas Allan's vividly seasonal contemporary cooking à la carte, along with an award-winning wine program and carefully curated cocktails, beer, and spirits. Guests have the option of sitting in The Bar Room, the adjacent lounge, or at the vibrant marble bar. Walk-ins are accepted in all three areas, and The Bar Room also welcomes reservations.

Enjoy The Bar Room menu al fresco on The Terrace overlooking MoMA's Abby A. Rockefeller Sculpture Garden. The Terrace is  now open for the season for lunch and dinner, weather depending. Reservations are available for lunch and we welcome walk-ins for dinner.
